Mujer Y Fortaleza (Cuenca) Group's story

The communal bank Mujer y Fortaleza is comprised of 16 members who live in the Turi Parish in Cuenca. From this parish there is a beautiful view of most of the city of Cuenca, so it is known as the city viewpoint. Its people, just like our members, are involved in commerce, livestock farming and work in different areas in the city. They are kind, gentle, warm-hearted people, who maintain the culture and traditions of their villages. One of the members of this group is Ana Beatriz, who is 37, married and has four children, ages 16, 15, 13 and 11. All of her children study at the school for special children. Her husband is a construction worker and the house they live in belongs to them. Ana Beatriz spends most of her time at home taking care of her children, but she supports her husband with the household expenses and works in farming, growing vegetables that she sells from home. She also raises chickens and guinea pigs. The member has been in the communal bank for three years and all of the loans have helped her work. The new loan will be used to buy chickens to raise. Her dream is to have a bakery one day because she knows trade. The small picture is of a member who could not be present for the group photo.
