Milca's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to buy ten bags of fertilizer and to pay laborers who will work on her land.
Milca is 28 years old. Her partner is Eugenio and the couple have three children who are 12, 10 and 3 years old. They all live in their own home which is located in the indigenous community of San Pablo de Shimashiro (in the central Peruvian jungle). Milca is a farmer. Thanks to her community, she has 10 plots of farmland which are located 20 minutes from her home. There she produces coffee, ginger and cacao. "I have been working for seven years. My husband and I sell our harvests in Pichanaki (city)", she says. One of the things they do not like is working in the rain because there are times that the heavy rain surprises them in the middle of their work, making it difficult. However, owing to the perseverance for which she is noted, Milca does not give up. Now that she has financial support, she can be certain that her output is secure. In addition, she enjoys the educational talks that her group receives because they have taught her how to improve her sales. Her immediate goals are to expand the area of land over which she grows her crops and to produce more ginger as she only has one 'cuadra' (around 1.8 acres). This is Milca's second loan from MFP and she says that she will, once again, make her repayments on time. She feels like the other members of her community bank ('Los Shirokis') are family and that they are in harmony. Milca will use this money to buy 10 bags of fertilizer which cost 120 soles a bag. She will also pay the laborers who will help her to weed between her crops.
