A loan helped to purchase supplies and pay for labor in order to sow tomatoes.
Jesus Alberto's story
Jesús is a farmer by trade; he grows vegetables. This Estelí native is a Kiva borrower and his second loan was of great help, because he was able to invest in his crop. He obtained improved productivity and quality in his crop, which increased his sales and, in turn, resulted in more income for the family. He used his second loan to purchase supplies and pay for labor in order to sow cucumber. However, he wants to invest in his business even more, since demand for his produce has increased. That's the reason why he currently requests his third Kiva loan, also to purchase supplies and pay for labor, so that he can sow tomatoes. He believes that this loan will be of help, because he'll be able to keep his business going and offer his customers high quality goods. Besides, he'll get good productivity in his harvest, and he'll sell it at good prices in order to get more profits that will soon be re-invested in his business. His next step is to expand his plot of land and diversify his produce so he can satisfy his customers' needs. His goal is to obtain higher profits and to be able to get himself and his family ahead.
