Parwin's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy an over machine and an embroidery machine.
Parwin's Group's story
Parwin is a 29-year-old Iraqi woman who is married and has two children. With limited career options due to cultural restrictions and domestic constraints, Parwin is one of the many Iraqi woman who is working from home, using her sewing skills to generate some income and participate in meeting the financial needs of her family. With six years experience in small business, Parwin had looked for opportunities in the past to improve the services she offered. She took a loan from Relief International Microfinance Iraq which she used to purchase a small generator, allowing her to work during the many hours when electricity is not available in her city; she also bought some nice quality fabric. After the successful repayment of that loan, she is now taking a loan to expand the services offered to her customers. She is buying an over (finishing) machine and an embroidery machine to be able to provide her customers with a greater variety of custom made items. Relief International Microfinance Iraq offers group loans for clients unable to provide a guarantor--thereby unable to apply for a loan as an individual. As a group, the members collectively guarantee the loan. Groups consist of three to five clients and each client is evaluated on his or her repayment capacity. All group members receive the same loan amount as the individual with the lowest repayment capacity in the group.
