Gilberto German's story
Gilberto is a young man of 21 who lives in the beautiful town of Pisco, known for its warm climate, lovely beaches, agriculture (particularly cotton and maize), and fishing. Tourists to the town often visit the Islas Ballestas and the Candelabra at Paracas. Gilberto lives with his mother whom he helps a great deal. She brought him up as his father abandoned the family so she was both mother and father to him. Gilberto now gives her a lot of assistance as he is very grateful for all the effort she put in on his behalf. When he has free time, he likes to out walking as it clears his mind of all worries. He has worked as a receptionist for over seven months in a tourist business. He works about nine hours a day and believes that his job is going well as he is very responsible and friendly to the customers who use his services. His bosses are very pleased with him. Gilberto is very grateful to Kiva donors as the loan will help him to improve his house. He wishes to build a room out of quality materials as at the moment it is very rudimentary. Winter is approaching when it gets very cold. He would like to have better standard of living for both himself and his mother, live a decent life, and realize his greatest dream: help his mother build a solid, durable home.
