Soutoura Group's story

The six members of the Soutoura group are for the most part married women who on average are 36 years old with five children. Most of them live in monogamous families in Sanoubougou I, a neighborhood in the city of Sikasso. They are on their fifth loan with the Soro Yiriwaso microfinance institution, seeking to meet the needs of their customers. In this group of women Ms. ROKIA manufactures and sells soap. She is the third person from the left. With her ​​loan she plans to buy 10 drums of waste oil (black paste) she turns into soap and sells wholesale and retail for cash, on site, at home and at the fairgrounds, to a majority of women customers. She expects to attain average monthly profits of 45,000 FCFA which she will use to pay off the loan and interest and put the remainder into savings. She aims to increase her turnover to better satisfy her customers.
