Semevo Group's story
The Semevo group is composed of three individuals living in the same neighborhood. The group’s representative, by the name of Lydia, is the one raising her hand in the photo. This is the third time that the group is seeking financial support from ALIDé in order to expand their business. Lydia is 43 years old. She has had little formal education. Lydia is married to Francois. They have three dependent children, all in school. Lydia lives together with her husband and children and, jointly with her husband, provides for household needs. In order to earn a living, Lydia has been selling hibiscus juice of and ice cream in a district of Benin for 10 years. Lydia stocks up in a region of Benin. With the goal of strengthening her business and better meeting customer demand, Lydia would like to increase her stock. In order to do so, Lydia, together with other members of the Semevo group, is seeking her third loan from ALIDé. Their prior loans have been duly repaid.
