Alma Reina's story

Alma Reina is 34 years old, in a common-law relationship, and has five children. She lives in a rural neighborhood in the town of Gracias Lempira. Alma Reina is a very hard worker. For the past four years she has been producing and selling coffee, as well as golden coffee beans. She spends the necessary time that is required of this business. The area where she lives is suitable for production and selling coffee is a very profitable business in this country. Doña Alma is requesting her fifth loan from ODEF in the amount of 5,000 HNL so that she can buy fertilizer and pay for labor to help maintain her farm. With this investment, she hopes to achieve a better coffee harvest and also provide the required attention that her crops need. As a result, she will be able to sell a quality product. Her goal is to continue working the land by cultivating coffee so that she can achieve financial solvency and be able to provide for her children's studies and give them a better quality of life.
