Hellen's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.

Hellen's story

Hellen is a farmer in her rural hometown of Kisii. She is married with two children, ages 13 and five. She has been farming for 20 years and runs the farm with the help of one farmhand. She produces mainly maize, beans, vegetables and milk for the local market. She runs a retail shop selling farm produce like cereals and vegetables which she sources from her farm as well as from other local farmers. Hellen has requested a loan of 52,000 KES from Kiva partner Juhudi Kilimo to buy and insure a dairy cow. She says this will boost her milk output for her family's consumption and income through sale. She plans to establish a milk parlor business in the local market once her milk production stabilizes. Hellen says sourcing capital is always a challenge to farmers and Juhudi Kilimo loans will be of great help.
