Maria Del Carmen's story
María lives in Quevedo. She is 35 years old and is married to Antonio. They have 4 children who are school students. María says that since childhood she has seen bricks being made as her father makes bricks and taught her. She has made this training her business and decided to open her own factory independently. She is in business with her husband, brothers and younger workers and they help her from 7:00AM in the morning until evening. She tells us that her business is hard work but with the family joining together they have managed to construct and grow their business. With the loan she is going to buy prime materials in order to make bricks, and buy tools and plastic items, etc. She says that her dream is to be able to have an industrial oven and a truck because these items are important for her business. As a goal, she tells us, that she wants to give her children creature comforts, provide education, and inculcate good values.
