Specioza's story

Specioza is 37 years old and lives in the town of Seeta in the Mukono region of Uganda. She is married and has four children who are all currently in school. For the past three years, Specioza has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells sugar and soap. To help expand her business, Specioza has requested a loan of 2,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. This loan will be used to buy more essential commodities to resell, and it will help Specioza to generate greater profits and improve on her family's standard of living. Specioza hopes that in the future she will be able to have a successful business. Specioza is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Specioza who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
