Patron San Jeronimo Ii Group's story
A group of neighbors and friends formed the “Patrón San Jerónimo II” communal bank in the city of Cusco in Cusco Province and Department of Cusco. This communal bank is composed of people who seek at all times opportunities to get ahead and with their daily efforts provide a better future for their children. The economic activities of the members are for example: food sales, snack sales, grocery sales, beauty products sales; some work as teachers, public employees and others provide medical services, tourism services and transportation services. (Adela is raising her hand in the picture.) Adela was born in the city of Cusco and still lives where she was born. She’s currently 60 years old and her main economic activity is selling anticuchos [grilled skewered meat] from place to place. She works from 3pm until 8pm Monday through Saturday. She’s been in this business for 30 years and does very well thanks to the effort she puts into it. On this occasion, Adela needs the loan to buy ingredients like meat, chicken, sausage, oil, potato, dehydrated potato and other things. Adela’s dream is to open a locale where she can sell her anticuchos. The members in general are grateful for the opportunity provided and commit to make their various installment payments in the established time frame. (The members who appear at the bottom of the photo asked the governing board permission to be absent from the meeting.) Cusco is located in Cusco District and Province belonging to Cusco Department in the very heart of the ancient city of the Incas. It’s noted for being a very tourist-oriented zone because of its archaeological sites, for its historic city center, for its scenery and for its history; it is an enchanting city in the country’s southern region. Cusco is known as a very tourist-oriented, commercial zone, for its traditional Inti Raymi festival and because one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machupicchu, is located there.
