Mujeres Activas Group's story

"Mujeres Activas" ["Active Women"] is the group formed by 15 very hard-working and enterprising women of the city of Luque. They saw a great opportunity for growth for themselves and their friends, and they want to be able to work hard day by day so that they can help their families. Maria is single, and she is the mother of a little girl, 8 years old, for whom she works tenaciously, since she wants to give her a good future and a standard of living different from the one she grew up with. She is a cook, and she previously worked as a chef in a Spanish restaurant. After much work she succeeded in saving her money, and with the help of a loan from the Paraguaya Foundation, she was able to open her own snack bar, where she sells food that she prepares herself. Her dream is to be able to have a large restaurant, which will help her improve her standard of living and that of her family. Maria is requesting the loan to buy flour, meat, condiments, eggs, bread, vegetables and other supplies which she will use to prepare the foods she sells. She is grateful to the Paraguaya Foundation for the opportunity she is once again receiving.
