Grace's story

Grace is 38 years old and lives in the town of Arua in the Arua region of Uganda. She is married and has four children, two of whom are currently in school. Grace has been working hard to manage her small business, which sells small dried fish. To help expand her business, Grace has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from Kiva partner, BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more small dried fish for resale, and will help Grace to generate greater profits and ensure a better standard of living for her family. Grace hopes that in the future she will be able to expand her business. Grace is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Grace who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
