Umoja Group's story

Mimi is a member of the Umoja grouop, and she lives in Ngozi. She is 29 years old, and married to Benjamin, a driver. Together they have 3 children, 2 of whom are in school. The children are between 3 and 8 years old. She is also financially responsible for her brother, who is studying at secondary school, and an orphan. She is a trader of baby clothing, bedding and bedcovers... she has been doing this for 6 years. This is her eleventh loan with Turame. With the KIVA loan she is seeking, she will increase her working capital, purchasing a large quantity of bedcovers to resell, in order to increase her income. In the coming years, she would like to buy a taxi for her husband.
