El Paraiso (Cuenca) Group's story

The El Paraíso Communal Bank [Paradise Communal Bank] consists of fourteen women and two men who live in different parts of the Cumbe parish in Cuenca, a place with a cold climate which has many places worth visiting to enjoy the region’s natural peace and tranquility. The people of Cuenca, like the communal bank’s members, raise animals and work in agriculture and commerce. Many work in the city, performing different jobs, and all are very warm-hearted, friendly, courteous, who always keep their traditions and culture alive. One of the members of the El Paraíso group is Rosa Cecilia, who is twenty-seven years old and a single mother who cares for her four year old son. She lives in a house which she owns. Rosa Cecilia takes care of her duties in the house and raises hogs, chickens, and guinea pigs, which she sells in her community. Additionally, she works twice a week cleaning houses. She is requesting her fifth loan with the communal bank, and she will invest it by purchasing hogs, chickens, and guinea pigs, as well as feed for them. Her dream is to travel and see the world.
