A loan helped to buy wool yarn.

Chulumani Group's story

The “Chulumani” communal bank will start its 30th cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the Los Andes Focal Center. It has 10 members led by a governing board headed by Ana. The communal bank members carry out a variety of businesses among which we have: sale of domestic animals, neighborhood store, knitting sweaters, book sales, blanket sales, food sales, knitting baby caps, milk and cheese sales, shoe sales and sale of little caps. Ana indicates that she’s been a member of a Pro Mujer communal association for six years having been invited to join by a fellow member. She currently has a sewing workshop where she knits sweaters; she’s had it for years. The loan she’ll take out now is to buy merchandise like wool yarn that she’ll use to make the items. She tells us that she works at her business every day and sells in the city of El Alto’s street markets. This business helps her support her family since she’s married and has three children. When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, she answers that she likes the health training, the loans and the health monitoring.
