Clemencia Doralisa's story
Clemencia is a dedicated and loving woman. She is the mother of three children whom has helped get ahead in life through much care and effort since the father of the children separated from her. Her home is located in the city of Ica, which is characterized by its year-round warm climate, as well as for being visited by infinite numbers of tourists who want to get to know "the lake of Huacachina." The city is also known for its agriculture, in particular its cultivation of asparagus, cotton, and grapes. When Clemencia has free time she likes to watch television, especially her favorite telenovelas. She also likes to prepare one of her favorite dishes--her favorite is the delicious "Rice with Duck." Clemencia could only study through high school because her parents lacked economic resources, but she would very much have liked to study to be a teacher. Clemencia starts the day by opening up her business. She sells drinks such as sodas, soft drinks, and beer. She works around 12 hours a day and can attend to up to 30 clients in a day. She thinks that her business is successful because she provides her clients with good service. Clemencia is very grateful to Kiva lenders since thanks to the help they have given her, she will be able to buy a freezer and to finish painting the facade of her business, which is located in her home. This improvement will permit her to sell frozen drinks, since during this season that is how clients prefer their drinks. Just so, painting the front of her business will make it look much better and clients will feel more comfortable. This way, her income will improve and she will be able to continue fighting to realizer her greatest dream: "to have a better quality of life."
