Las Luchadoras De Tierra Blanca Group's story

This group is called “Las Luchadoras de Tierra Blanca” and the members decided on this name because they consider themselves to be people who strive daily to improve their lives and the lives of their families and also because that’s the name of their community. The story is about Reyna Bedsabet since she’s the group representative. She’s 44 years old and a widow. She has four children of which only Miguel and Manuel are attending school; they are in second year of high school and second grade of elementary school. The two older ones are married. She has had a grocery store for more than 13 years. Reyna decided to start this business because she needed to improve her and her family’s quality of life and also to move her children forward since she did not have sufficient economic solvency to provide them with a better education. The loan she got will be used to buy more merchandise like: milk, rice, beans, oil, salt, cookies, soft-drinks, noodles for soup, eggs, soap and toilet paper in order to have more varied stock. She wants to continue investing in her business so that she can make it grow much more because she wants to enlarge the locale to install her grocery store and have a wider selection of goods to increase and improve sales and income because this is the only way she will be able to continue supporting her children with their schooling so that they can have good professions and continue to improve their quality of life. She is very grateful to Kiva lenders and to Fundación Realidad because thanks to them she’s getting ahead and has been able to have her own business. Some of Reyna Bedsabet’s other group members are Juana, Rafaela, Clemencia, Felicísima, Rosa and Aurea who carry out a variety of activities like grocery sales, food sales, sale of refreshments, chicken sales, meat, plastics and fruit.
