Heliconias Group's story
The “Heliconias” (wild flowers) group has 10 members who live in a community known for its residents who are very humble and hardworking. The main economic activity is growing oranges and coffee. Xochitl is one of the members in this group. She is 38 years old. She went to high school and she is single. She says that a little more than two years ago, she started her own business. She has a stationery store in the center of her community which school age children flock to. It is one of the most stocked stationery stores in the community. She opens her business very early every day. She likes to have a little of everything so that her customers can always find what they are looking for. Xochitl will invest the loan in the purchase of pencils, mechanical pencils, glue, scissors, various paper products, folders, erasers and pens as well as in maintenance for the photocopier in order to restock her business. With this investment, she wants her business to continue progressing and attract more customers so that her earnings increase.
