Unidas Con Cristo 1, 2 & 3 Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy pants, blouses, skirts, shirts, etc.

Unidas Con Cristo 1, 2 & 3 Group's story

Maria, the coordinator of her group Unidas con Cristo (Unite with Christ) 1, 2 & 3, is excited to be taking out her fourth loan. This Esperanza associate began with us because she wanted to start a business but lacked sufficient capital, so the program went to her community and she invited some neighbors. After almost two years in business, she has been able to expand her enterprise.

Maria plans to use this loan to buy clothing including pants, blouses, shirts, underwear, T-shirts, etc. She will reinvest the profits in her business because during these months, clients are buying a lot for various occasions including Easter and Mother's Day, and she wants to be prepared for the demand.

Maria makes her home in a simple structure with her long-term partner and five of her eight children. She says that her most challenging goal is to acquire her own house. Her group is located in the rural areas surrounding La Romana, where the sugarcane harvest and tourist industry dominate the economy.
