Maria Nicolasa's story
María Nicolasa is 47 years old. She is married and has 3 children, ages 9, 6 and 3. Together they live in the Guaranda Province of Bolívar. She is a member of the rural community bank "Mushuc Ñan" and lives 60 minutes from the office. The group is located in the community of Guanto Cruz, in the Guanujo parish. The group is made up of 11 members who farm blackberries, potatoes, corn, lima beans, and onions, as well as raise barnyard animals and dairy cows in order to make cheese. María Nicolasa cultivates blackberries, potatoes, corn, lima beans, and onions, and she also raises animals such as cattle, chickens, and pigs. She is requesting this loan in order to purchase manure, fertilizer, urea, and weed killer. With the help of the loan she will be able to buy the inputs that she very much needs. Her dream is to buy a vehicle. The challenges that she faces are transportation and bad weather. In her free time she likes to knit, watch television, and enjoy the Christmas season.
