A loan helped to hire day laborers.

Ruben's story

Rubén, 29, lives with Yolanda, 36, and they have two children. They live together in their own house located in the community of Corazón del Valle in Pichari District. Rubén works in agriculture for he grows cocoa beans and coffee on his parcel located in the town’s highlands. He learned how to work these crops while very young alongside his father and brothers. Currently, each one took his own path seeking their family’s wellbeing while Rubén, being the youngest, stayed alongside his father in charge of the fields so that he can care for and harvest the fruit in order to cover his family’s and his parents’ expenses who are no longer able to do the hard work due to their advanced age. This is how Rubén works daily cultivating cocoa beans hoping to attain good harvests. Rubén is happy with the work he does because later on he’s thinking about buying a parcel of farmland to continue expanding his crops. This is his second MFP loan so Rubén commits to make his installment payments punctually. He will use the 3000 new soles to provide crop maintenance and to do so will hire day laborers.
