Rufina Llano Grande Group's story
This group called “Rufina Llano Grande” is made up of 6 humble, hard-working women who originate from a little town called Llano Grande. In Llano Grande there are trees, soccer fields and basketball courts so children and youngsters can go out and play with their families. One of the members of this group is Rufina, 41, and she has been a butcher for 20 years. She tells us that what she likes most about her job is cleaning the meat, cutting it and giving her clients some good customer service. She’s happily married to Lorenzo, 50, and they have a daughter, Mareli, who is 4 years old and is her love and inspiration. She’s requesting this loan to buy more tools for butchering meat, like knives and a meat grinding machine. She tells us that thanks to the foundation she has been able to expand her business; she used to sell only pork, but with the help from the foundation, she’s able to sell beef and pork, and she prepares barbecued beef for sale, too. She’s very grateful to the foundation for supporting her and the other members so that their businesses can grow and they can improve their lives. The other members of the group are the following: Yolanda sells Mexican snacks. Fortina Clara sells perfume. Judith runs a grocery store. Francisca Lucia sells clothing. Deyci sells fruits and vegetables. They give their thanks to the foundation for supporting indigenous peoples and workers from marginalized towns.
