Ruth's story

Ruth is a 50-year-old mother of four children. She is married to Alex, who is a driver. They come from Vihiga town, West Kenya. Ruth operates a cereals business, selling mainly dry maize. She has done this business for the last eight years and makes a monthly income of KES 8,600. She is now taking her fifth loan from KADET LTD, which she will use to buy stocks of dry maize to sell.
