Rocio's story

Rocío is 41, and a modest woman. She lives with Luis, her husband of 17 years. They have five children, whom they look after in their own home, located in the town of Sicaya. “I figure out how to work at anything” says Rocío, who begins with this phrase when she comments on the support that she receives. She has various activities. During the day she has a business buying and selling alfalfa, that she carries on in the town square; although on days she gathers a large amount hay whether for her or for someone else, she sells it in the country's capital, where she earns good profits. As well, she grows corn, potatoes, wheat and alfalfa on her piece of farmland, that she looks after with much dedication, in spite of all the activities she carries on. Alongside this work, she takes care of animals, including guinea pigs and rabbits, which she sells to customers who come to her neighborhood. Now she wishes to devote all her time and effort to improving her working conditions, enabling her to work more calmly and with an easier mind. For this reason, she will begin to train in the areas of agriculture and livestock-raising. She belongs to the “Sicaya” communal bank, and this is her ninth loan with MFP, so she feels very happy, as in all this time, she has succeeded in earning a lot of profits, all thanks to the financial support they provide. For this reason, she promises once again to make her installment payments. As well, she likes working with her group, as all the members are supportive and hard-working people. When she receives her loan, Rocío will use the money applied for to buy a small bull to fatten, and to continue with her business.
