A loan helped to purchase a new boat and fishing net.
Khut is a 48-year-old married woman who resides in Prey Chor district, Kompong Cham province. She is involved in a business growing crops. The most common crop is rice, which she usually grows every season of the year. Her spouse is supportive and helps manage the maintenance of the rice field. Khut has five children, one of whom is married and lives independently. To support the family, one of her sons works at a fishing business. He catches fish from the nearby river and sells them. Unfortunately, some of his fishing materials were broken. This makes Khut’s household income decrease. To solve the problem, Khut is taking out a loan from Kiva, through HKL, to purchase a new boat and fishing net to support her son in his business. In the future, Khut wants to save money to repair and decorate her present house because it seems too old and is not comfortable for the family.
