A loan helped to buy pillow-making supplies.

Olga Francisca's story

The members of the San Agustín communal bank get together every two weeks in the beautiful city of Calceta, known for its working people and beautiful women. Here we meet Olga. She’s 61 years old, married, and has three adult daughters. Two of them still live with her. Her husband is a farmer. In order to make a living and help her husband with the household expenses, she has a workshop where she makes throw pillows. She makes different designs and styles of coverings for the pillows and then ships them to Quininde and Quito, where her sisters live and who sell them there. She also delivers to a shop in Calceta and also makes custom orders. She’s been doing this for more than 20 years and her daughters help when they can. She will use the money from this loan to buy pillow-making supplies, such as fabrics, thread, and down. She’s been with the communal bank for 16 years and she likes it because of the benefits she’s gotten from the bank. Her dream is to have a larger workshop and more machines.
