Natalia Marcela's story
“Entrepreneur” is the best word to describe Natalia Marcela, a 22-year-old woman. She wants to go into the manufacture and sale of “obleas” [A variation of wafer, usually eaten as a dessert with two pieces filled with arequipe, dulce de leche (milk caramel) and/or sweetened condensed milk in the middle. In some places they might contain cheese, fruits, Chantilly cream, among others. They are usually very popular as they are very inexpensive] since this is her family’s tradition. Natalia Marcela’s parents do not earn high income which is why Natalia Marcela has faced great difficulties in reaching her dream of studying a university career and this is why Natalia Marcela has been working for some time now polishing confections. However, her salary is very low and does not suffice to cover her personal expenses or to save up for her studies. Wishing to contribute to her parents’ household expenses, to pay her own expenses and to save up for future studies, Natalia Marcela wants her oblea manufacturing and sales business to expand and generate higher income to a large extent because the business is so small that she’s unable to fill all her customer orders. Because of this, Natalia Marcela seeks a loan that will allow her to buy new presses to make obleas and to buy ingredients at wholesale so that she can get them at better prices. Natalia Marcela states that with an increase in production capacity of her business sales will increase and so will her income thus being able to improve her parents’ quality of life and be able to reach her dream of studying the university career she’s so much wished for.
