Kirui's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy and insure a dairy cow.
Kirui is a 32-year-old farmer. He is married and has four children between the ages of three and ten years, the first three of whom are already in school. His pineapple, banana, milk, and tea produce is sold locally. Kirui has requested a loan of 62,400 KES from Kiva partner Juhudi Kilimo to help him add another dairy cow into his farming business. He says the loan will enable him acquire a better and more productive breed than the ones he has currently. He say that the income he generates will go towards education of his children. Kirui says that animal diseases and lack of funds deter the growth of farmers' businesses significantly, as they are limited in the acreage they farm and do not enjoy economies of scale.
