A loan helped to buy wool.

Nevaditas De Palcoco Group's story

The “NEVADITAS DE PALCOCO” communal bank is starting its first cycle in Pro Mujer as part of the main Copacabana office. The group has ten members and is governed by a board of directors headed by Señora Cleta. The members' businesses are varied and include: buying and selling livestock; selling meat; livestock feed; sand sales; and knitting blankets. Cleta says that this is her first cycle with Pro Mujer, and that she joined at the invitation of a promoter. She currently has a business knitting blankets. She has had this business for several years, and learned it from a previous job. This loan is for increasing her working capital (buying wool). She will buy the wool in La Paz, and will sell her completed blankets in the market. This form of work allows her to generate an income to support her family; she is in a common-law marriage and has two children.
