Malamba Group's story
Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org in Makeni, Northern Sierra Leone, is very pleased to present to you members of the “Malamba” group. These are small-scale entrepreneurs who have come to SMT/Kiva lenders to seek a loan of 700,000.00 SLL for each member to invest in her businesses. Mabinty is the leader of this group. Born in the village of Kamasikie, in Northern Sierra Leone, Mabinty is married. She has been a businesswoman for many years now. She sells market food – palm oil, rice, pepper, tomatoes and margi (which is used to give sauce a sweet taste). With her share of the loan, Mabinty is going to buy the above-mentioned items in large quantity to add to her business.
