St Monicah Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped To source farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.

St Monicah Group's story

Evans is the facilitator of the St Monicah group. Evans and his group joined One Acre Fund in the year 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program. Evans takes care of four children at home. He joined One Acre Fund to access One Acre Fund’s best prices and to ensure food security for his family and later educate them. In the recent 2011 season, Evans had an excellent maize yield harvesting 12 ½ bags on ½ acre of land. Before joining One Acre Fund, Evans was only able to harvest four bags of maize on ½ acre of land. With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Evans and his group during Kenya’s next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs is part of One Acre Fund’s integrated agriculture package, which includes training, reliable input supply (such as fertilizer and seeds), credit and insurance. With income from his maize sales, Evans will buy land and invest in livestock rearing. In 2012, the members of St Monicah group will each plant maize plots between ½ and 1 acre of land.
