A loan helped To buy poultry birds.

Silas's story

Silas is age 50 and married. He has six children, four adults and two minors, with the latter still schooling. He has been in active farming for 24 years. His farm currently produces milk, bananas and mangoes for the local market. He also runs a retail shop dealing in cereals. Silas made a loan request with Juhudi Kilimo amounting to 25,000 KES to purchase poultry birds and spread his risk from dairy farming, which has been his main source of income. He hopes to earn more income and open up his banana farming for heavy commercial purposes. He says the income will also help him educate his last two children. Silas says he is challenged by poor rainfalls and markets that offer poor prices for farming outputs. He mentions, however, that Juhudi Kilimo is helping farmers with loans that are processed quickly.
