Gavkhar's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to purchase cattle.
Gavkhar is 50 years old, married and has three children. Her two older sons work, one as a waiter and the other one as a grocery truck driver, while the youngest daughter is still in school. To be able to support her family, Gavkhar is raising cattle and sells produce at the market. She has started her business with 15,000 som (KGS) which she used to purchase cattle and has now expanded her herd to four calves. Additionally, Gavkhar makes pasta for the lagman (a traditional Kyrgyz dish of roasted meat and pasta) which she sells to the local grocery stores. According to the recipe, pasta for lagman has to be made and stretched out completely by hand. Gavkhar's business yields 20,000 som (KGS) monthly in profits and this allows her to cover all daily expenses as well as save money for her daughter's education. In order to grow her business Gavkhar has turned to "Bai-Tushum and Partners" for a credit of 100,000 som (KGS) with which she plans to buy additional cattle for fattening and resale. Her family is planning to use the profits from the loan to purchase a car and open a taxi service in the near future.
