Sengeli A Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to source farming inputs, such as seeds and fertilizer, at low prices for the 2012 planting season.
Sengeli A Group's story
Alfred takes care of eight children at home. He joined One Acre Fund because of One Acre Fund’s best prices and in order to ensure food security for his family and later educate them. In the recent 2011 season, Alfred had an excellent maize yield harvesting 11 bags on ½ an acre of land. Before joining One Acre Fund, Alfred was only able to harvest 4 bags of maize on a ½ acre of land. With income from maize sales, Alfred will educate his children, build a house and invest in livestock rearing. Alfred is the facilitator of Sengeli group. Alfred and his group joined One Acre Fund in the year 2011 and will re-enroll in the 2012 program. In 2012, the members of Sengeli group will each plant maize plots between ½ and 1 acre of land. With this loan, One Acre Fund will purchase fertilizer, seeds, and other important inputs to distribute to Alfred and his group during Kenya’s next planting season in February 2012. The distribution of farming inputs is part of One Acre Fund’s integrated agriculture package, which includes training, reliable input supply (such as fertilizer and seeds), credit and insurance.
