Olivia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more sugar and soap for resale.

Olivia's story

Olivia is 40 years old and lives in the town of Kacwamba in the Fort Portal region of Uganda. She is widowed and has 4 children who are all currently in school. For the past 4 years, Olivia has been working hard to manage her retail shop, which sells items like sugar and soap. To help expand her business, Olivia has requested a loan of 3,000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy more sugar and soap for resale, and will help Olivia to generate greater profits and to relocate her business to another place. Olivia hopes that in the future she will be able to buy clothes for resale. Olivia is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP). The program primarily serves small entrepreneurs like Olivia who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for micro-loans.
