A loan helped to purchase four piglets.
María Florentina's story
María is a 49-year-old married woman with three children, one of which is under her care. María's husband works breeding oxen to then sell them. She has worked breeding pigs for the past 15 years. She picked up the traD. from her parents, who taught her how to work for a living. She buys piglets from a livestock market and also from people close to her community. Then, she feeds them for six months to fatten them up and sells them at a good price. She keeps them in a special place for pigs (chiquero) near her home, in order to feed them and give them vitamins. María says that she is very happy and enjoys her work. Apart from pigs, she also sells hens, turkeys and other animals. She is very happy and committed to her work, enjoys it. She is very loved where she lives. María is requesting a loan from Fundación Campo, because she says that it is an institution that helps rural workers. With this loan, she will buy four piglets, which will allow her to continue on with her business, as well as pay for her daughter's education. In the future she wishes to improve the area where she keeps her pigs.
