Ana Margarita's loan finished fundraising, but these other borrowers need your support
A loan helped to buy merchandise for her clothing sales business.
Ana Margarita's story
The Anibal San Andres community bank meets twice a month in Montecristi (Portoviejo), a canton famous for its rich pre-Colombian cuture and the traditional crafts that are known around the world. It's the center of the famous straw hat industry. Our member, Sra. Ana, 28, lives here. She is the single mother of two children, 7- and 5-years old, both in local schools. Ana supports herself and her children with a clothing-sales business. She sells all kinds of clothes, going door to door. She works from 8:00 to 12:00 because those are the hours her children are in school and, consequently, the hours that suit her best. She has a full day, of course, working in the morning and taking care of her children the rest of the day. She has operated the business for 7 years and earns enough to support herself. Ana will use this loan to buy pants, blouses, children's clothes and other clothing pieces. She has been a member of the bank since the beginning and likes it because it provides her easy access to credit. Her goal is to open her own clothing shop.
