Gabriela Maria's story

Gabriela is 23 years old and lives with her family in a community by the name of San Carlos, located in Alajuela, the second province of Costa Rica. It is the country’s number 1 area in coffee and sugar cane production. There, they also produce basic grains (rice, beans, and corn), fruit, legumes, tubers and vegetables. Juan Santamaría International Airport, the country’s most important airport, is located in this province.

For the past several months Gabriela has needed a computer, as she is a company secretary and it is difficult to do her work without this technological device.

As a result, she is requesting a loan for 400,000 CRC (Costa Rican Colones). She will use the loan to buy a computer for the company so that she can complete the reports and accounting for the organization.

Gabriela is a member of El Encanto de Pital Communal Bank, one of EDESA’s 150 partner organizations in Costa Rica, and this is her first loan.
