Neermala's story

Neermala is 27 years old. She is married and has two children, aged 11 and 6. In 2001, she established her tea shop business. Working seven days a week and eight hours a day, she supports her family. She has already received and successfully repaid six loans from Patan BPW, and used her most recent to buy food materials for her business. In the future, Neermala plans to uplift the economic conditions of her family. She thanks you for your support. Whether on the streets of Kathmandu or in the villages outside of the capital, tea shops are places of business and meeting in Nepal. Called a chiya pasal, these tea shops make a sweet, milky tea that can be purchased for a few cents a cup. With a Kiva loan, BPW's borrowers are able to keep their store shelves stocked while increasing their profit margins by buying in greater volume.
