Joseph Abu's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT), a partner of Kiva.org based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone is very pleased to introduce to you this group of teachers, from the eastern city of Koidu/Kono. They have requested for a loan 10,900,000.00 SLL from SMT/Kiva lenders in order to solve their immediate financial needs. At the end of each month, they will repay the loan, using their monthly salaries. Their school’s bursar is directly responsible for deducting the repayment and repays SMT/Kiva lender on their behalf. Joseph is the leader of this group of teachers. Born in a place call Gbalahun, in eastern Sierra Leone, 61 year old Joseph has been in the teaching profession for 43 years. He is married and has 10 children – 2 in primary school, 3 in secondary school and 5 grown-ups. Joseph has applied for this loan in order to buy house building materials and to invest the rest in agriculture.
