Buen Corazon Group's story

The Communal Bank “Buen Corazón” (Good Heart) is starting its fifth loan cycle with Pro Mujer as part of the Villa Exaltación Center. The group consists of 13 members and is led by a Board of Directors headed by Sra. Virginia. The members of the Communal Bank engage in various businesses to get ahead such as trade, clothing sales, food services, and manufacturing.

Sra. Virginia says that she joined Pro Mujer two years ago after receiving an invitation to attend a promotion from her neighbors. She currently has a business selling clothes and has worked for 10 years. She learned this trade from her mother-in-law and sister-in-law.

The loan she is receiving now will be used to increase her inventory of merchandise (by purchasing clothes). She acquires her goods from Oruro or La Huyustus and then sells them at the fairs. Working in this manner makes it possible for her to generate income to support her family. Virginia is in a common-law relationship and has three children.

When asked what she likes about Pro Mujer, Virginia said that she enjoys the meetings.
