Maranata Group's story

MARANATA Group is made up of three women who live in the same neighborhood in Benin. For the second time, the group is seeking financial support from Kiva's partner, ALIDé, in order to bolster their businesses. The group's representative is named Mathilde, and is the one raising her hand in the photograph. She's 29 years old and lives in Benin. She has two children who both attend school, and whom she has to support. Mathilde no longer lives with her husband. She did not attend school much. For five years, Mathilde has been selling fresh fish to provide for herself and better support her children's various expenses. She gets her supplies in one of Benin's town. Eager to satisfy her customer and in order to increase her income, Mathilda is seeking a second loan, together with the other members of MARANATA Group. The first loan was repaid without problems.
