Total loan: $725

Kireka, Central Region, Uganda / Retail

Zaitun's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more supplies for her business.

Zaitun's story

Zaitun, a 40-year-old married mother of four children, one of whom is currently in school, lives in the town of Kireka in the Kampala South region of Uganda. For the past year, she has been working hard to manage her small retail business which sells sugar and soap.

To help expand her enterprise, Zaitun has requested a loan of 2000,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda to buy more supplies, which will help Zaitun to generate greater profits and buy more stock. She hopes to start a farming business in the future.

Zaitun is a member of BRAC's Small Enterprise Program (SEP), a program primarily serving small entrepreneurs like her who do not have enough collateral for commercial loans, but have businesses that have grown too large for microloans.
