Mrs. Katy was born in the city of Ocobamba, province of La Convención, in the department of Cusco. She currently lives in the Coya Community in the province of Calca. (She is the one raising her hand in the photograph). Katy is a single mother and has a daughter (5-year-old Jorym). She is a hard-working, responsible mother who cares for her daughter. She sells vegetables such as lettuce, cabbage, onions, carrots and many more, in the city of Quillambaba once a week. She has a stall in one of the busiest markets in Quillabamba. She has been in business for a year and thanks to her hard work it is going very well. Katy belongs to the communal bank "San Antonio D. Padua" and is requesting a loan to buy a car to transport her vegetables. The members of the communal bank "San Antonio D. Padua" meet every month in the city of Coya. The bank is comprised of working entrepreneurs who look for every opportunity to get ahead and, through their daily work, proviD. a better future for their children. Most of the members live in the city of Coya and their business activities involve sales of small animals, food sales, livestock farming, agriculture and crafts. The city of Coya is located an hour away from the city of Cusco. Cusco is well known for its tourism, traD. and Inti Raymi traditional festivities, and also because it is home to one of the Seven Wonders of the World: "Machupicchu".
