Yurleida's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase materials and supplies for making sports uniforms.

Yurleida's story

Yurleida lives in the city of Cartagena where she has a sewing workshop that has become her main source of income. This occurred because she took advantage of her mother’s experience and enrolled in a course making lingerie. Yurleida eventually studied industrial design through the National Learning Service (SENA) and with the help of her family she bought a machine and established her business venture. She started out with a line of intimate apparel and later added women’s blouses. Yurleida currently produces uniforms for sports teams and schools. Her market consists of high schools and elementary schools from the surrounding areas that have contracts with her. She produces her goods based on measurements provided to her. However, her operating capital is insufficient for responding to the current demand without a great deal of effort. For this reason she is applying for a Kiva loan, her first form of financing through Fundación Mario Santo Domingo.

Yurleida will use the money to buy raw materials and supplies so that she can respond to requests for sports uniforms. These orders require a great deal of care if she wants to hold on to her customers. Her dream is to have a shop along the main street where she can display her beautiful designs. This will allow her to increase production so that she can have inventory to exhibit. While she continues to meet her goals, Yurleida manages a contribution margin of 43.77%, a product turnover period of 34 days, and an accounts receivable period of 9 days. These financial indicators signal an increase in growth and a successful investment.
