Elvira De Jesús's story

Elvira is a member of the communal bank "Tocte." She lives in the community of Tocte, a place surrounded by natural beauty, with people who maintain their culture and traditions. The people there work in agriculture and animal husbandry, and many also work in handicrafts or leave the city to work in different activities. Elvira is 47 years old. She is a single mother with three children aged 22, 16, and 10 years. Her oldest child is married and independent, and her middle child works and helps her financially. Her youngest child studies in a local school. She owns the house that they live in. Elvira cares for livestock on a farm. She has been doing this work for 7 years, and she works every day. At her house she raises pigs, guinea pigs, lambs and hens that she sells when she needs the money. She has been in her communal bank for 3 years, and she will invest the proceeds of this loan in grass to feed her animals and fertilizer to improve her paddock. Her goal is to finish her house, as it still lacks some finishing touches.
