Salim's story

Salim is a married man with twenty-seven children. Fifteen of his children attend school, and twelve are adults. He owns a house that has neither electricity, nor piped water. His greatest monthly expense is school fees. For the past 30 years, he has operated a charcoal selling business, reared livestock, and also owns residential real estate. His potential customers are charcoal dealers in the area who purchase in wholesale, and sell as retail. He faces the major challenge of seasonality due to disease outbreak in the area. Salim dreams of establishing a retail shop in the future. With the Kshs 100,000, he wants to start a motorcycle business; purchasing one motorcycle for transport. He decided to join Yehu to access loans to boost his business.
