Clive Road Women's Group 3's story
Everybody wants to have a settled means of subsistence. Those who find pleasure in a life where they have to live by their wits are many but given a choice, they would go with something that helps them to bring value and mileage to their lives. Twelve years ago is when 38-year-old mother of four, Prossy, made the decision to take root in her fish sales business in Jinja. Jinja is the source of the Nile River and many indigenous people have taken to fishing and fish selling as their source of livelihood. Prossy joined the fish sales business with no prior business experience but under the financial auspices of her husband. She has sustained her business through thick and thin with grit, tenacity and unwavering diligence. This explains her longevity in this competitive business. On the side, she also runs a modest food sales business. Weekly she says this business generates sales profits totaling Uganda shillings 100,000. Prossy says she intends to use this Kiva loan to purchase more fish to resell.
